Some of my favorite things to buy when traveling are clothes and accessories. With these, they’ll last a long time (provided they’re good quality), and also have an essence of the place you once visited. There’s nothing like putting on a cute dress from Greece or jewelry from Italy and feeling like you have a part of it with you! I recently took a trip to Scotland (more on that here if you’re interested in reading!). While exploring the beautiful town of Falkland, stumbled upon possibly the best vintage shop in Scotland: Vintage Quine.
What is Vintage Quine?
Vintage Quine is without a doubt my favorite vintage store ever I’ve personally visited, and dare I say possibly the best vintage shop in Scotland. According to their website, Quine is the word for ‘woman’ or ‘girl’ in the Scots language of Doric. As the store obviously focuses on the love of all things vintage- hence the name Vintage Quine. I think it’s beautiful, and as someone with Scottish heritage myself I love the nod to the Doric language.
The store is located in the beautiful Fife Village of Falkland, Scotland (address: High Street West, KY15 7BU , Falkland, Fife). I had unfortunately missed it on my previous day in Falkland, but I’m happy I stumbled upon the store on my second day visiting the quaint historical town. I was immediately drawn to the shop by its simple, yet gorgeous sign out front- and even more so by the window display providing a glimpse into the glamourous, classy offerings that Vintage Quine has.
Vintage Clothes in Scotland
When you step into the shop, you’ll be transported into a world of glamour and old-fashioned, romantic charm. Vintage Quine offers a variety of true vintage pieces as well as new items with a vintage flair to them. You’ll be able to find unique shoes, skirts, blouses, dresses, cardigans, and beautiful accessories, such as hats, scarves, gloves, and headbands. They also offer home and giftable products such as candles and soaps. I was seriously tempted to walk out with several bags’ worth of gorgeous vintage pieces, but I contained myself and stuck to an adorable set of beaded, vintage-inspired hair clips.
If you’re a fan of Outlander, you’re also in luck! Select scenes from season 1 were filmed in Falkland, right next to Vintage Quine. So it’s no surprise that the store also offers Outlander-inspired clothes and accessories such as hand-warmers, brooches, and scarves. Perfect for any Outlander fan visiting Falkland!
The Outlander Photoshoot Experience
Vintage Quine recently announced that they are now partnering with a photographer (@dashiee) to arrange Outlander-inspired photoshoots! This is something I unfortunately haven’t had the chance to do, but you can bet I’ll certainly sign up one day! Since Vintage Quine is located nearly right next to some of Outlander’s most iconic filming locations (and specializes in vintage fashion), it’s the perfect opportunity to dress up as Claire herself in 1940’s Inverness. You’ll be fitted in a gorgeous vintage ensemble, inspired by the first episode of Outlander (you can even buy the pieces afterward!). For a 45 minute photoshoot, you’ll receive at least 30 beautiful Outlander-inspired photos in real Outlander filming locations. I’m pretty sure they’re also going to be opening up slots for a 1740s Claire and Jamie couples photoshoot. My fiance and I will definitely participating! To book your own Outlander-inspired photoshoot, you can DM @dashiee on Instagram!
My Favorite Vintage Store in Scotland
Overall, I am absolutely obsessed with Vintage Quine. If you’re visiting Falkland, anywhere in Fife, or even Edinburgh and are down for a road-trip, I think it’s a must-do for all fashion and vintage lovers. I just know I’ll be visiting them again soon; whether for vintage shopping or even an Outlander photoshoot. If you’re not planning on visiting Scotland anytime soon, luckily they have online shopping available- you can check out Vintage Quine here! Let me know if you’d visit this Scottish vintage store. I can’t wait for my next visit!
